ACTIVE FIREFIGHTER PROGRAM
Rostraver Township VFD #1's Active Firefighter program is designed to recruit, train, and prepare adults to become active firefighters within the community.

The program consists of the following:

Initial application of adults ages 18+
-
Screening and background check to ensure comparability to the department objective and goals
-
In-house and Fire Academy training
-
Recruits must complete hazmat operations and at least three out of four of the essential modules of firefighting within one year of membership.​

Fundraising events and support functions

Emergency operations

JUNIOR FIREFIGHTER PROGRAM
Rostraver Township VFD #1 Junior Firefighter Program is designed to recruit, train, and prepare young adults to become active firefighters within the community.

The program consists of the following:

Initial application of 14-17 year old males and females
-
Screening and background check to ensure comparability to the department objective and goals

Talk with applicant and parent(s)/guardian(s) by Fire Chief to explain the program
-
Acquisition of working papers from the School District
-
In-house and Fire Academy training
-
Fundraising events and support functions
-
Emergency operations
-
Transition to Active Firefighter at 18 years old
